The U.S. Army has chosen the Google Android as the operating system for smartphones military. A program called Joint Battle Command-Platform is a joint project of non-profit organization MITRE and the U.S. Army.
In this case, a "smartphone"should be understood the device that will only work with applications approved by the U.S. Army and developed exclusively for military purposes. Applied software package will allow commanders to track and display the position of their own and enemy forces on the battlefield, to share intelligence and conduct intelligence operations.
The project aims to develop mobile platforms based on commercial technologies that can be expanded by a set of additional applications. Android system is ideally suited to these requirements. The first platform of use in the form of a software package for developing applications (Mobile / Handheld Computing Environment) will be presented in July this year.
